She changed the world in every way
She didn’t do much, maybe nothing at all,
but when she did do something,

I bawled with serendipitous admiration

She chose the perfect pants to go with the perfect belt,

to match the perfect scarf,

to impress the perfect date



She reminds me of flowers,

like the first crocus pushing its green crown through

the hard ground,

or like the leaves of flowers

bursting their buds in joy  

The robin sings of her beauty,

roses sing of her generosity,

I’m reminded of spring



Bright, cheerful, funny,

she carries a sun in her smile

Never the zoo, the beach

nor the museum do you find her in,

If you do find her eventually,

it cannot be expressed in words.

You’ll want to see her smile

Her sweet, toothless grin
