Air Calin started operations in 1983. Service to Sydney was inaugurated in 1986, Auckland in 1987. First you are in for a bit of history flying the B747-400, which no longer operates with Air Namibia, from WIndhoek to London Heathrow via Lusaka and back from Frankfurt to Windhoek.
That is followed by a series of flights on the B737-200 from Windhoek to Cape Town via Walvis Bay. On the way back the weather into Windhoek is very bad forcing the aircraft to miss the approach twice and go-around. A diversion is made to Eros where the 737 will make its first ever landing.

Our second airside look at airliners in Alaska takes in two airports - Fairbanks, just 200 miles from the Arctic Circle, and Lake Hood, adjacent to Anchorage Intl. and the World's largest floatplane base!
Just like Anchorage, Fairbanks also has its share of refuelling long-haul freighters crossing the Pacific on their way from Europe to the Far East, as well as being the focus of a range of services to remote communities in the Interior. For many of these, everything has to be flown in, including fuel - which means regular work for C46s, DC4s and DC6s operated by four different airlines!
Lake Hood is busy all day long as Beavers, Otters and other floatplanes carry anglers to fish distant lakes or bring in supplies to lakeside communities. We've got some superb film of these aircraft in close up action - as you can see from the samples shown here!
As with our Anchorage programme, this was filmed airside in 1999 with the full co-operation of the airport authorities and various airlines. Superb sound compliments the excellent pictures obtained by our Sony Professional digital camera equipment.

Istanbul’s Attaturk airport is the major gateway to Turkey, but there’s another airport serving the Turkish capital that’s less well known. Opened in 2001, Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen airport is steadily attracting more and more users of its superb facilities.
The airport’s low fuel costs and handling charges attract a great mixture of veteran Soviet freighters, gleaming executive jets and some of the latest low-cost airlines.
We were given unrestricted access 24 hours a day. The result is a unique DVD that really gives you a sense of being there on the ramp in wonderful sunshine, in a country where aviation photography is not normally encouraged.

For several years now, Frank Manke at Skybird Video has been filming at airports in Russia and Eastern Europe. We’ve used the best of his material, featuring only Soviet/Russian built airliners, to create this fascinating programme.
From purposeful freighters like the IL76, and the IL18 and AN12 veteran propliners, to airliners like the IL62 and TU134, Soviet designs have a character all of their own. In recent years, they’ve also acquired some exotic colour schemes, often not seen outside eastern Europe.
Filmed at Moscow’s major airports, plus Dresden, Bratislava and Sharjah, this is a great record of the sights and sounds of some superb airliners, as they take on new roles in the 21st Century.

The airline, founded as Braathens SAFE in 1946, slowly grew to become Norway's largest airline.
The aircraft featured in this program, which was released on VHS in 2000, made up the fleet since the 90s with the B737-400 joining in 1989, the B737-500 in 1990 and B737-700 in 1998.
The dvd shows flights in the cockpit from the airline's main base at Oslo to half a dozen destinations in Norway including most notably a flight into Longyearbyen known as the world's most northern full service airport.
In 2002 SAS purchased the airline, from 2004 it operated as SAS Braathens and finally on June 1st 2007, date of the release of this dvd, the airline was fully merged into SAS making the Name Braathens disappear.

Windward Island Airways International is a government owned regional airline founded in 1961. The airline operates a fleet of Twin Otters from its base at the Princess Juliana Airport in St Maarten to many destinations in the Caribbean.
